AN INTRODUCTION TO EVOLUTION

What Is Evolution?

If you Google evolution, the definition you get is "the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the Earth." Basically, evolution is the way that things grow and change and develop. Evolution is often a result of the external stimuli that a species is exposed to. For example, Charles Darwin discovered that finches on separate islands, although they were the same kind of bird, had evolved differently to survive in their unique environments.  If only small seeds were available on one island, the birds there would have small beaks. However, if the birds had nuts instead, then their beaks would be larger and flat so that they could crack them.

Humans, like all the other species on Earth, have evolved in various ways. After all, life on Earth began with single celled organisms. It's obvious that we have come a long way since then. Around 160,000 years ago, humans began to look less like their other primate relatives. Their skulls became rounder, their facial features begame smaller, and their brow ridge became much less protruding. Humans also developed some new features, such as opposable thumbs.

Basically, the human race has come a long way. And we still have a long way to go. Thanks to all of the technology available to us today, our world is changing rapidly. While there's no way to say with 100% accuracy what will happen to the human race, we can make some fairly logical assumptions. This website will try to provide you with some answers (and possibly some questions) about where our species is headed.
